1. Honesty

Nobody here needs to waste time playing detective to verify what the other says. Come with the truth or please find somewhere else. The discipline of honesty allows for the comfort of security & trust. That makes for a better learning experience & community. We welcome you to be part of that.

2. Medical history

Your medical history is of paramount importance for your safety. While this class & the training offered is not to be considered medical treatment by any means, the chief instructor is a medical professional & bound to spare no efforts when it comes to doing no harm. Thus, we need clear, honest, & thorough communication about any underlying medical conditions that you have or are currently dealing with so that training can be tailored to protect your safety and the safety of the class at large. Your information will be kept confidential unless you disclose it.

If you have any medical concerns, please discuss them directly and privately with the Chief Instructor before you train. Please do not write them on this form.

3. Presumption of physical risk

ANY and EVERY form of exercise holds potential for injury. Tai-Chi involves slow and sometimes strenuous movement, balance work, stances, breathing practice, and optional partner exercises that include light contact, practiced barefoot on mats. We will do our best to make sure to control for and minimize every possible risk factor for injury, but we absolutely cannot guarantee that the risk is zero. Your participation in this class shows that you understand this possibility and accept it willingly. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release and agree not to hold Mark Cheng, Alex Quenneville, the Korean Martial Arts Center and its owners and staff, their families/heirs, or any party associated with them responsible or liable for injuries or pain that may occur during these training sessions, including injuries caused by ordinary negligence. You fully accept the financial responsibility of dealing with any such injuries solely on your own. This release does not apply to gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing, which California law does not allow to be released. Any behavior that can result in the injury of another member can result in immediate expulsion and full forfeiture of dues. You are expected to conduct yourself intelligently both in not putting others at risk and not allowing yourself to remain in harm’s way. If you are hurt or ill, you permit the instructor to call emergency services and to share the information you have provided with responders.

4. Respect

We’re not here to talk about who’s the best of what or to become braggarts or bullies. Train, improve yourself, help others gently, and give space for other people to do whatever they’re going to do in a way that allows you to remain unaffected. Absolutely no criticisms of other styles or schools or cultures is going to be tolerated whatsoever. We’re here to learn & train, not debate about superiority or fuel chauvinism. While the chief instructor is in favor of free speech, he strongly condemns wasting time & energy criticizing the methods of other groups by any of his students.

5. Multimedia rights

All classes here, in person and online, will be recorded for possible use in social media, live-streaming, YouTube references, our websites, and other such learning resources. Your participation in this class is done with the tacit understanding that you are granting the instructor, the host, and associated entities your permission to use your image and voice in those resources. Students may not record, share or post class sessions or other students without permission.

6. Housekeeping

Please treat the training area & every aspect of the property with the utmost care. Don’t just leave things as you found them. Make them better. If you see something that needs attention, like toilet paper running low, make sure that it’s communicated to either the chief instructor or the host (Master Alex Quenneville). If there’s a bit of a mess & you’re not physically incapable of cleaning it up, please do so.

7. Fees & refunds

This group is founded on fairness. You will be taught well & given the opportunity to thrive. You are also expected to furnish your dues on time. If you wish to terminate your training with the group, you will be issued a prorated refund. Acceptable payment methods are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and cash. Classes are complimentary through October 2026 as part of the Grand Opening special; enrollment fees will be announced.

I have read all of the rules above & have initialed by each of them to indicate that I both understand and accept these terms.
